Tulip Poplar (Liriodendron Tulipifera)
Tree: Tulip Poplar can reach heights of 130-160 ft. and have trunk diameters of 6-8 ft.
Wood: Heartwood is light cream to yellowish brown, with occasional streaks of gray or green. Sapwood is pale yellow to white and it is not always demarcated from the heartwood. Grain is typically straight and uniform.
Working Properties: Very easy to work with in every sense, although it tends to leave fuzzy surfaces and edges due to its low density.
Uses: Known as a utility wood, it is used for pallets, crates, upholstered furniture frames, paper and plywood.
